“Mission: To put Christian principals into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.” The YMCA in Adair County has been made specifically for those of the community. The hours go well with values that are upheld throughout the community by being open Monday thru Friday 5:45 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. They are also closed on all major holidays including Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas day, and New Years day. At the YMCA they also have a membership assistance program that works on a sliding scale based on your household income to allow you to use the YMCA at a discounted rate due to your financial circumstances. The YMCA accepts all applications, but will conduct a background check on each one before the application is accepted. When talking with the executive director of the Adair County YMCA she was extremely excited for new employees to come and check out the YMCA. She really wishes that more Truman State students as well as ATSU students would apply for positions. She stressed that they are very laid back and flexible when it comes to making a work schedule that fits with your school schedule and she understands that you will most likely go home for long breaks and for the summer. They do not hold that against you and they even welcome you back when you do return to school the next semester. If you have any questions contact Sara Riffer at sriffer@adairymca.org.
